“Fear is the foundation of most governments” John Adams, second President of the United States (1797–1801), the first Vice President (1789–97), and as a Founding Father was a leader of American independence from Great Britain.
This explains why Donald J. Trump is the president of the United States of America and why we still have tribal politics in Kenya. This amazing video from Academy of Ideas explains how fear can be used to control a society.
In Kenya this has be evident in the past elections:
In 2002 the Narc party won with the narrative “We don’t Moi to continue been president, he has been a dictator for long” The fear of Moi was used by the Narc party to win the elections.
In 2007, Mwai Kibaki was able to win a re-election based on the narrative “We don’t Raila to lead. We can’t trust what he will do”
In 2013, the Jubilee Party used the cases against Uhuru and Ruto to create a narrative “The Western countries want to control our nation and outcome of the elections”
In 2017 what will be narrative.
